professional background
1) teaching goals
2) motivation to teach
I am motivated to teach because I love my chosen subject area (art), and wish to share that passion with my students, and guide them in developing their own creativity and a deeper understanding of themselves. I hope to inspire each and every one of my students to strive to develop their very best creative process, and feel privileged to be in the position of “creative coach”.
For those students who intend to follow a creative (or even somewhat creative) career path, I want to support and encourage them to gain the confidence and skills to find their own path. I expect all of my students to develop the courage to enhance their creative skills, understanding and process (including ways of seeing and thinking), to be brave and share what they create, to develop a visual language and improve their literacy and communication skills, and to be kind to themselves and one another as they dabble, practice, collaborate, make mistakes, experiment, create, reflect and learn.
Some of the best motivation for me comes when I see students deeply focused on their work, whether that be sculpting in clay, collaborating on art analysis or creating a personal project that has meaning for them.
